Introducing Pug Puppies – “Big” Dogs in Small Bodies!

Pug puppies are adorable and make great family pets. These “toy” dogs are characterized by their flat, wrinkled round faces. While all puppies are cute, there's something extra charming about pugs. It's believed by some experts that they originated nearly 3,000 years ago in China, and were bred solely to be human companions.

Pug litters consist of anywhere from two to five pups. As newborns, pug puppies aren't much bigger than mice. They can be reddish brown, black, or silver, and they have cute, curly tails. Their color can change over time. Black pug pups' coats sometimes turn out to be fawn once they grow up. Their tails can change over time also.

Their mothers usually take good care of them and raise them well. Pugs are known to be extremely active dogs, and therefore require plenty of exercise. Since they are so little, however, they tire easily from playing and take very long naps. Unlike a lot of playful pups, pugs fortunately are not very destructive. They are very active, but rarely turn their attentions toward destroying household items or furniture.

It can take a lot of patience to train a pug puppy. They get bored easily, and want to turn their attention away from repetitive tasks. Despite being stubborn as pups, however, they can grow up to be well trained dogs. For that reason, it's best to start their training when they're still young. A variety of different lessons should be mixed together in order to prevent boredom. Because they are small, they shouldn't be punished harshly during their training. Only people who have the time and patience necessary should adopt pug puppies for show.

All types of owners will be happy with pug puppies. They are mostly friendly and happy, and are easy to take care of. While some patience is needed for extensive training, those who want a pug simply to keep as a pet will be very satisfied. Despite their size, they will still try to be good watchdogs. It's often said that pugs are “big dogs in a small body”. Anyone who ever spends any time with them will come to realize this in no time at all!
